Here is a small reconstruction. Joe wants to delete his temp files so he does:

joe@heartofgold~$ rm /tmp *

Spot the stupidity? There is more in the shape of inadequate backups and the nastyness of getting files back on an ext2 filesystem and the fact that I think the backup I did have got deleted a while ago. I have lots of free /home now :(

This is what happens when you let stupid tired ppl have power.Still. If I really wanted the files back I COULD arse around with debgug fs et al and get them back..... But now I can start filling it up with rubbish all over again. and I still have my dot files.... and actually it was all probably rubbish anyway :)

[livejournal.com profile] bobtfish found the backup... Yay. And he is going to store it someplace (or other) for me so that I can just take what I NEED and get the benefits of clearing out my homedir combined with the benefit of not ACTUALLY loosing anything.

Still.. I have learned my lesson, and now have a perfect way of justifying buying myself a cd burner for ummmm backups. Not copying music CDs. Officer...
