Here is a small reconstruction. Joe wants to delete his temp files so he does:
joe@heartofgold~$ rm /tmp *
Spot the stupidity? There is more in the shape of inadequate backups and the nastyness of getting files back on an ext2 filesystem and the fact that I think the backup I did have got deleted a while ago. I have lots of free /home now :(
This is what happens when you let stupid tired ppl have power.Still. If I really wanted the files back I COULD arse around with debgug fs et al and get them back..... But now I can start filling it up with rubbish all over again. and I still have my dot files.... and actually it was all probably rubbish anyway :)
