Since 2007 (and again in 2008) I book stalked China Miéville's supposed new book Kraken which was kicking around in the amazon list for CM.
Since then it seemed to disappear and turn into City and the City, China's crazy split city crime novel. That's that I thought and turned my attention to studying youtube videos for further book clues.
Well all of a sudden Kraken has a picture and a synopsis on amazon:

" Deep in the research wing of the Natural History Museum is a prize specimen, something that comes along much less often than once in a
lifetime: a perfect, and perfectly preserved, giant squid. But what does it mean when the creature suddenly and impossibly disappears?
For curator Billy Harrow it's the start of a headlong pitch into a London of warring cults, surreal magic, apostates and assassins. It might just be that the creature he's been preserving is more than a biological rarity: there are those who are sure it's a god.
A god that someone is hoping will end the world. "
Along with all this there is a (presumably fictional) release date: "7 May 2010". We shall see! But needless to say I'm looking forward to that!
