Subject: BBC 6 Music
Hi,
I'm writing to support the excellent BBC 6 Music. In my opinion it is the jewel in the crown of BBC broadcast quality.
When I think of my licence fee money, this is the kind of place I would like to see it going. Good, intelligent programming without commercial bias. 6 music could not exist in the commercial space in it's current form and this is a strong case for it's preservation.
Other BBC radio output is far less justifiable. Radio 1 and 3 in particular are just clones of their commercial rivals.
At the end of the day I recognise the difficulties you face, bullied by politicians to cut your budget. I would see no cuts in the BBC I think the licence fee is excellent value; however in the real world where you must make cuts I would urge you not to start with the kind of distinctive output which could only be made by the BBC.
Thanks,
Joe Higton
