The guardian are running a poll on the previously mentioned stupid decision to redirect licence fee moola to fund ITV local news.

Don't suppose even an overwhelming poll vote would change anything, but it's a high enough profile forum for people to notice.

The government are planning to divert that part of the licence fee that was for digital tv switchover funding to help fund ITV local news, which ITV wants to dump because they can't afford it.

The reason that they can't afford it is, nobody watches it! ITV news coverage is crap at the best of times, local news is generally pretty dull. Combine the two and you have crap and dull, no wonder it didn't make them any money!

What's more is we already pay for one lot of "local cat gets stuck up local tree" reporting with our licence fee because the BBC provide a local news service! And a darn sight better one than ITV ever have. Why do we have to pay twice?! Just put the licence fee back down or give the cash to the BBC!
